CitySwift today announces the world’s leading international public transport association, UITP, has elected Alan Farrelly, CitySwift Chief Commercial Officer and Co-founder, as National Ambassador for Ireland until June 2027. He replaces Jim Meade, previous CEO of Iarnród Éireann, the Irish operator that provides passenger and freight rail services as well as operating Rosslare Europort.
As Global Ambassador, Alan will represent Irish public transport interests within UITP's international network, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange that benefits operators across Ireland and beyond.
Since 2016, Alan has led CitySwift’s growth by helping public transport authorities and operators across the globe harness data and AI to improve performance and passenger experience. In Ireland, CitySwift works closely with major transport operators and authorities including Bus Éireann, Go-Ahead Ireland, Dublin Bus, the National Transport Authority (NTA) and Translink Northern Ireland. While outside Ireland, notable customers include Transport for London, Transport for Greater Manchester, National Express, Metroline and Go-Ahead Group. Alan’s transport career began in his family’s coach business, Farrelly’s Coaches, which later became the Irish agent for Yutong, one of the world’s largest bus manufacturers.
Speaking on today’s announcement, Alan Farrelly, CitySwift CCO and Co-founder, said: “Being elected as UITP National Ambassador for Ireland is a real honour. UITP has been a cornerstone of public transport advocacy and knowledge-sharing for over 140 years, and to represent Ireland within that community is something I'm genuinely excited about. Global public transport is at an important moment — we have the data, the technology, and the ambition to deliver services that are more reliable, more efficient, and more passenger-focused than ever before. I look forward to bringing Ireland's voice to the global stage, and bringing the best of global thinking back home."
Powered by intelligent data processing, CitySwift optimises over 3.3 billion passenger trips annually. CitySwift’s platform removes obstacles to accessing transportation data, empowering teams with rapid and reliable performance insights that support better decisions for operators, authorities, and passengers alike.
